About the NSCPT

The Nigerian Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (NSCPT) is the professional body for medically qualified Clinical Pharmacologists in Nigeria. Founded to protect and advance the practice of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, the Society brings together specialists working across drug development, clinical trials, pharmacovigilance, pharmacoepidemiology and rational medicine use. NSCPT promotes the highest standards of undergraduate and postgraduate training, fosters research, and partners with government, regulatory and academic bodies to improve patient care through safer, more effective use of medicines.

NSCPT advances Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics in Nigeria through the following core activities

Training & Education

  1. At least two training workshops/seminars per year run by the Education Committee
  2. Scientific programme at the Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference
  3. Support for undergraduate and postgraduate CPT curriculum development

Research & Publications

  1. The Nigerian Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (NJCPT), the Society’s academic journal
  2. Promotion of high-quality, locally-relevant drug and therapeutics research

Advocacy & Policy Engagement

  1. Collaboration with NAFDAC, WHO, UNICEF and government agencies on rational and safe medicine use
  2. Engagement with the National Universities Commission, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, and postgraduate colleges on training standards

Mentorship & Public Engagement

    1. Mentoring young scientists and clinicians interested in Clinical Pharmacology
    2. Annual observance of World Clinical Pharmacology Day
    3. Public awareness and education on safe medicine use

International Collaboration

      1. Partnerships with international pharmacological societies and donor agencies
      2. A planned virtual library in partnership with international partners, as resources permit
